The short version on location: your precise address is never public. Listings show only a coarse area, and the exact location is revealed only after a job is accepted — to the hired party alone.
1. What we collect
We collect the information you give us and a small amount that's created as you use Bridggez:
- Account details — your name, email address, account type (freelancer or employer), and password (stored only as a secure hash).
- Profile content — skills, rates, headlines, bios, portfolio links, references, and any documents you upload.
- Job and application data — the jobs you post or apply to, cover letters, proposed rates, contracts, and reviews.
- Location — a coarse public location (such as city and region) and, when you choose to provide it, a precise address that stays private until a job is accepted.
- Messages — the conversations you have with other members through our built-in chat.
- Usage and device data — basic logs, IP address, and browser details we use to keep the service secure and working.
2. How we use your information
We use your data to run the marketplace and make it safer and more useful:
- To match freelancers with jobs and help employers find the right talent.
- To power your profile, applications, contracts, ratings, and messaging.
- To send you notifications you've asked for, like new-job alerts and replies.
- To protect the community — detecting fraud, abuse, and spam, and enforcing our Terms.
- To improve Bridggez by understanding, in aggregate, how features are used.
We do not sell your personal information. Advertising on Bridggez is contextual — advertisers never receive your identity from us.
3. Location data & the reveal rule
Location is where a lot of marketplaces get careless. We treat it as a first-class safety feature:
- The coarse location on a listing (typically city and region) is visible to everyone so people can judge fit and commute.
- The precise address and exact coordinates are hidden while a job is open.
- When an employer accepts an applicant, the full location is unlocked — and only for the person who was hired.
- You can also opt to reveal a job's location publicly if that suits the work; the default is always privacy.
This means posting or applying to a gig never forces you to broadcast exactly where you live or work.
4. Cookies & similar technologies
We use a small number of cookies that are essential to how Bridggez works — for example, to keep you signed in and to remember your light or dark theme. We keep non-essential tracking to a minimum. You can clear or block cookies in your browser, though some features may stop working if you do.
5. How we share information
We share data only where it's needed to provide the service:
- With other members, as part of normal use — your public profile, listings, and the messages you send them.
- With service providers who help us operate (such as hosting and email delivery), under agreements that limit them to our instructions.
- When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Bridggez and its members.
- In a business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition, with notice to you where the law requires it.
6. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account we remove or anonymize your personal data, except where we're required to retain it.
7. Your rights & choices
You have real control over your data. Depending on where you live, you can:
- Access and update your profile and account details at any time.
- Download or request a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Delete your account and the personal data tied to it.
- Control which notifications you receive from your settings.
- Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where we rely on it.
To exercise any of these, use your dashboard settings or contact us at the address below and we'll help.
8. Security
We protect your account with hashed passwords, encrypted connections, and access controls, and we work to keep our systems patched and monitored. No online service can promise perfect security, but we treat protecting your data as core to the product.
9. Children
Bridggez is for people who are at least 18 years old. We don't knowingly collect information from children, and we'll delete it if we learn we have.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Bridggez evolves. When we make material changes we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app. Continuing to use Bridggez after a change means you accept the updated policy.
